Oxford Nutrition was formed in 1983 and is the holder of a Pharmaceutical Wholesale Dealers Licence, with distribution centres near Exeter in Devon and Witney, Oxford. As one of the first groups to
publish data on the stability of All-In-One TPN mixtures
(JPEN 1981, Clin Nutr 1982), we have continued to develop
our expertise and knowledge in this area through
international research with hospital pharmacists and scientists with laboratories in Oxford, Derby and University of Auckland.

Curr Opin 1998). The concept of immuno-modulation
by the administration of pharmacological doses of
specific nutrients, is a new approach to improving
nutritional status and is one which requires extensive
research. We believe that supplementation of diets with
pharmaconutrients, such as Glutamine, Arginine, Creatine,
Organic Phosphate and Selenium can improve clinical
outcome in a variety of clinical situations such as;
after surgery, trauma and burns, muscle wasting diseases
and the critically ill. We are now building on our
successful research with intravenous and oral Glutamine
supplements, and rapidly expanding into new
pharmaceutical nutrition and high-tech products for
Pharmacists and other healthcare Professionals to improve
the standard of patient care. In 1995 the company received the award for ‘The Small Business of the Year’ from the Federation of Small Businesses and in 1996 the SMART Award for Innovation from the UK Department of Trade and Industry. Oxford Nutrition is now a well established, clinically visible, nutrition support company with over 200 hospital customers. It acts as UK distributor for 7 European and 2 North American companies and employs 7 full-time and 5 part-time staff.
