Oxford Nutrition scientists developed the first UK 3 litre TPN bag and have since pioneered other novel designs such as 4 and 6 litre bags for 48 hour
adult feeds and multilayer plastics for extended stability of All-In-One feeding mixtures. EVA TPN Bags Material: Our EVA bags are constructed from medical grade ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) copolymer. All bags are compatible with our own compounding equipment and most other compounders Product Description: Bags are available in various configurations, with sizes ranging from 100ml to 4000ml. Bags are available with or without filling leads and in-line filter. Typical Features: Medical grade EVA. Mirablock permanent closure device on filling port. Tamper-evident sterile additive port. Tamper-proof Miraseal for additive port. Tamper-evident sterile set-entry port. Detachable holder/hanger.

MULTILAYER TPN Bags Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) mixture stability is often compromised by oxidation of the nutrients (lipids, amino acids, vitamins) through permeability of the bag to oxygen and water vapour. Oxford Nutrition pioneered oxygen-impermeable plastics and now has over ten years experience to demonstrate that ULTRASTAB (adult range) and Evarex Barrier (paediatric range) multilayer bags minimise oxygen transfer, improve long term stability and facilitate 48 hour therapy for stable patients. Over 60% of TPN bags used in the UK are now multilayer EVA plastic and Oxford Nutrition, with the largest range of different paediatric and adult bag designs, has a significant market share.
ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier are fabricated from a multilayer plastic consisting of ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) and ethylene-vinyl-alcohol (EVOH). ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier have ultra-low oxygen permeability compared to typical EVA bags. ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier are coextruded tubular bags with no adhesives or bonding agents and have low particulate load. ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier can be refrigerated without increasing oxygen content of TPN mixtures. ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier have a 5 year shelf life. ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier bags are available in all sizes from 100ml up to 6000ml with or without filling leads and in-line filter. ULTRASTAB and Evarex Barrier are well supported by publications and research literature with respect to extended stability of drugs, amino acids and vitamins in all-in-one TPN mixtures. Full papers and summaries are available on request.
